Mangaluru: Brutal Mob Lynching in Kudupu – 30-Person Mob Involved in Crime | Victim’s Identity Remains a Mystery | 15 Arrested

Mangaluru: Official details have emerged regarding the case of an unidentified body found in Kudupu, on the outskirts of Mangaluru, on Sunday. It has been revealed that a group of youths playing cricket brutally assaulted and killed a migrant worker.

According to reports, the incident began when the victim arrived at the location where a cricket match was underway on Sunday. A verbal altercation reportedly took place between the victim and an individual named Sachin, who was playing cricket. During this confrontation, Sachin allegedly attacked the victim, and others present at the scene joined in, escalating the assault, as stated by the Police Commissioner.

Approximately 30 individuals were involved in the incident, and so far, 15 have been arrested, according to the police.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sachin T (26), Devadas (50), Manjunath (32), Saideep (29), Nitesh Kumar alias Santosh (33), Deekshit Kumar (32), Sandeep (23), Vivian Alvares (41), Shridatta (32), Rahul (23), Pradeep Kumar (35), Manish Shetty (21), Dhanush (31), Deekshit (27), and Kishore Kumar (37). It has also come to light that the husband of a former BJP corporator was involved in the incident, and further investigation into this matter is underway, as confirmed by the Police Commissioner.

What Happened?

On April 27, around 5:30 PM, an unidentified body was discovered near the Bhatra Kallurti Daivasthana in Kudupu. Mangaluru Rural Police visited the site and conducted an inspection. As there were no visible severe injuries on the body, it was decided to perform a post-mortem examination.

Findings from the Investigation

According to the police investigation, a cricket tournament was taking place at a ground near Bhatra Kallurti Daivasthana around 3:00 PM on April 27. During this time, a group of individuals attacked an unidentified person with their hands and sticks. The victim was also kicked and trampled. Despite attempts by some to intervene, the assault continued, resulting in the victim’s death.

What Does the Medical Report Say?

The preliminary post-mortem report indicates that the victim suffered severe blows to the back, leading to internal bleeding and death due to shock. The lack of timely medical treatment also contributed to the fatality, as per the report.

15 Arrested, Investigation Ongoing

Based on a complaint filed by an individual named Deepak Kumar, the Mangaluru Rural Police have registered a case against 19 named individuals and others under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Currently, 15 suspects have been arrested, and the search for other individuals involved in the crime continues, according to the police. It is estimated that over 30 people participated in this heinous act.
