Udupi, 27 May 2025: The 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, Udupi, commenced its Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) at MIT, Manipal, running from May 25 to June 3. The camp brings together 600 cadets from across Karnataka for intensive training and character-building activities.
The event includes 108 Nau Sainik Camp (NSC) volunteer cadets from various NCC Naval units in Karnataka, 400 cadets from coastal Karnataka districts attending their Annual Training Camps, and 20 specially selected cadets from the IDSSC of Mangalore Group. This diverse group aims to promote unity, discipline, and leadership among young participants.
Col Viraj Kamath, Group Commander of Mangalore NCC Group, inaugurated the camp, calling it a transformative opportunity for cadets to experience military-style discipline, structured routines, and personal growth. “This camp embodies the true essence of the NCC, serving as a platform to build resilience, teamwork, and leadership through challenging activities,” he stated.
Col Kamath encouraged cadets to fully engage in the 10-day program. “Step out of your comfort zones, seize every learning opportunity, and push your limits. Each challenge you overcome will mold you into better individuals and future leaders,” he advised, emphasizing sportsmanship and integrity during competitions.
With monsoon rains impacting the region, Col Kamath highlighted the need for health precautions, urging cadets to stay vigilant against weather-related illnesses while maintaining training intensity.
Led by Lt Cdr MA Multani, Commanding Officer of 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, the camp features a packed schedule with precision drill exercises, specialized naval subject classes, motivational lectures by armed forces officers, competitive evening sports, cultural programs celebrating Karnataka’s heritage, and social service and community development (SSCD) initiatives.
Designed to test physical endurance, mental agility, and team spirit, the CATC is a key platform for cadets to qualify for advanced NCC programs and Nau Sainik Camp selections. Senior NCC officials noted that top performers will be recognized with special commendations at the closing ceremony on June 3.
