Udupi, May 31, 2025: The Alumni Association (R) of Milagres College, Kallianpur, hosted a memorable Alumni Day 2025 on Saturday, May 31, at 6:00 PM in the college’s AV Hall. The event brought together alumni from various generations, fostering a sense of nostalgia, unity, and pride in their shared connection to the institution.
The evening commenced with a serene prayer session led by Amrita Lewis and Ravinandan, the college’s Public Relations Officer, setting a reflective tone. Mr. Shekar Gujjarbettu, President of the Alumni Association, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, commending the alumni for upholding the values of Milagres and emphasizing the association’s role in bridging past and present students.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Prasad Raj Kanchan, a Congress Leader and distinguished alumnus, shared fond memories of his time at Milagres PU College. He highlighted how the institution’s values shaped his leadership journey and underscored the importance of alumni associations in providing guidance and support in today’s competitive world.
Mr. Chethan Kumar Shetty, Guest of Honour and a 1993 B.Sc alumnus, delivered an emotional address, reflecting on how Milagres instilled in him a deep sense of social responsibility. In a poignant moment, he dedicated his commitment to social service to the memory of his late son, Pradhan Shetty, crediting the college for shaping his values.
A key highlight was the felicitation of Mr. Roshan Lobo, a 2005 B.Com alumnus and international powerlifter from Hosala, Barkur. Honored with a traditional shawl and memento, his inspiring journey was narrated by Prof. Sophia Dias. In his response, Mr. Lobo expressed gratitude to his teachers, classmates, and the late Physical Education Director, Augustine Dias, for igniting his passion for discipline and determination.
In his address, Principal Dr. Vincent Alva praised the Alumni Association, a registered body since 2002, for contributing nearly ₹2 crores to the college’s developmental projects. With minimal government funding, he urged alumni to remain active stakeholders in the institution’s progress.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Joyce Lewis, who acknowledged the contributions of dignitaries, alumni, faculty, and volunteers. Fazal Neralkatte expertly compered the programme, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow.
