    Gangolli, August 20, 2025 – G. Mohammad Rashdan, a 10th-grade student from Stella Maris English Medium School, Gangolli, and son of Mohiddin (Noor) and Rubina, secured first prize in the district-level karate competition held in Udyavara. The event, organized by the Udupi Zilla Panchayat Department of School Education (Administration) for the 2025-26 academic year, featured primary and high school students competing in various sports. Rashdan’s achievement has brought pride to his school and hometown.

    Rashdan has also been selected to represent Udupi district at the state-level karate competition, marking another milestone in his sporting journey.

    Rashdan’s success follows his earlier triumphs. On August 9, 2025, he won first place in the taluk-level karate competition in Kandalur. Additionally, on August 3, 2025, he excelled at an international open karate championship, securing first place in the Kumite category and second place in the Kata category. These accomplishments highlight his exceptional skill and commitment to karate.

    Rashdan’s consistent performance across taluk, district, and international levels underscores his potential as a rising star in martial arts, inspiring young talents in Udupi district and beyond.

  • Gangolli: Yuva Nidhi Scheme Awareness, Registration Drive

    Gangolli, August 18, 2025: the Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority handed over informational banners and posters for the Yuva Nidhi scheme, one of Karnataka’s five guarantee schemes, to the Gangolli Gram Panchayat in Kundapur taluk, Udupi district. The banners have been installed within the Gram Panchayat premises to promote awareness. Permission has been sought to conduct a registration drive for the 2024-25 Yuva Nidhi scheme at the same venue to assist eligible youth.

    Yuva Nidhi Scheme Details

    The Yuva Nidhi scheme aims to provide financial assistance to unemployed graduates and diploma holders who are Karnataka residents. Those who completed their degree or diploma in the academic years 2022-23 or 2024 and have been unemployed for over six months are eligible. The scheme offers a monthly allowance of ₹3,000 for graduates and ₹1,500 for diploma holders for up to two years, supporting youth in their job search or skill development.

    The proposed registration drive in Gangolli will focus on creating awareness about the Yuva Nidhi scheme and facilitating easy enrollment for eligible beneficiaries.     Kundapur, August 17, 2025 – The women’s throwball team from Saraswati Vidyalaya Pre-University College, Gangolli, emerged victorious by securing first place in the taluk-level Dasara Sports Meet held for Byndoor and Kundapur taluks on August 17, 2025. The event was organized by the Udupi district administration, Zilla Panchayat, and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, featuring a variety of competitions for both men and women, showcasing athletic talent across the region.

    Men’s Throwball Victory

    The Sahara Team from Gangolli delivered an exceptional performance in the men’s throwball category, securing first place. This achievement has earned them the opportunity to represent Kundapur at the upcoming district-level Dasara Sports Meet.

    • Men’s Events: Athletics (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, long jump, high jump, shot put, triple jump, javelin throw, discus throw, 110m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay) and team sports (volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, football, throwball).

  • World Breastfeeding Week Celebrated in Gangolli

    Gangolli, August 17, 2025: A World Breastfeeding Week awareness program was conducted on August 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Shri Sharada Mantapa, Gangolli, under the joint auspices of the Women and Child Development Department, Udupi, Child Development Project Kundapur, Gangolli Gram Panchayat, Rotary Gangolli, and JCI Gangolli. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and promote healthy mother-child bonding in the community.

    The program was presided over and inaugurated by Jayanti Kharvi, president of Gangolli Gram Panchayat and Dr. Amitha delivered the introductory address. Key guests included:

  • Gangolli: Police Raid Gambling Den, Arrest Three in Harkuru

    Gangolli, August 17, 2025: On August 15, 2025, at 4:30 PM, Gangolli police, under the leadership of PSI Pavan Nayak, conducted a raid in a public place near Balehitlu in Harkuru village, following a tip-off from beat constable Mallappa about illegal card gambling. The operation, carried out with staff in the presence of witnesses, led to the arrest of three individuals:

    1. Chittaranjan (53)
    2. Mahabal Kuppayya Poojari (56)
    3. Ganesh Ganiga (55)

    Three others, identified as Chandra, Rajendra Devadiga, and Balaraj, fled the scene during the raid. The police seized ₹6,220 in cash, 52 playing cards of various types, and one polythene sheet used for the gambling activity. A case has been registered at Gangolli Police Station under Crime No. 87/2025, Section 87 of the Karnataka Police Act. Further investigations are ongoing to apprehend the absconding individuals.

  • Gangolli: Awareness Camp on Central Government Social Security Schemes Held

    Gangolli, August 14, 2025: An awareness camp on Central Government social security schemes was conducted on August 13, 2025, at the Gangolli Gram Panchayat hall, organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Central Cooperative Bank’s Gangolli branch. The event was inaugurated by Gangolli Gram Panchayat President Jayanthi Kharvi.

    Speaking at the event, Jayanthi Kharvi emphasized the importance of enrolling in government insurance and pension schemes for life security. She urged residents with accounts in nationalized banks to register for the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana to ensure financial support for families during emergencies.

    Resource person Ashalatha from the Kundapur Taluk Financial Literacy Office provided detailed information about PMJJBY, PMSBY, and Atal Pension Yojana. Gangolli Gram Panchayat Vice-President Tabrez, PDO Shobha, and journalist B. Raghavendra Pai extended their best wishes.     Maravanthe, August 14, 2025: A collision between a private bus and a government bus occurred this morning on National Highway-66 in Maravanthe, Udupi district, resulting in injuries to several students. The injured students were immediately taken to Maravanthe Government Hospital for treatment.

    Gangolli, August 04, 2025: The 3rd International Level Open Karate Championship 2025 concluded with great success at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Shivamogga, Karnataka, where Gangolli’s own Mohammed Rashdan emerged as a standout performer.

    The young talent, son of Mohiddin (Noor) and Rubeena, and a 10th standard student at Stella Maris English Medium School, Gangolli, trains under the KDF Karate & Fitness Academy in Kundapura. Rashdan showcased his exceptional skills by securing a 2nd place in Kata and a triumphant 1st place in Kumite in the under 15 category, and has also earned several medals in district and state-level karate championships, bringing immense pride to his hometown and marking his presence on an international stage.

    The championship, organized by A.Z. Martial Arts Academy India and affiliated with Akhila Karnataka Sports Karate Association and Karate India Organisation (KIO), attracted nearly 1,500 students from countries including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the UAE. The event featured intense competition across 10 rings simultaneously, highlighting the global appeal of karate. Kiran Kundapura, a master at Kiran’s Dragon Fist Karate School in Kundapura, expressed his pride, stating, “We are thrilled to see nearly 1,500 students participate with fierce competition. It’s a proud moment to host this international event in Karnataka for the first time, instead of countries like the UAE and Malaysia.”
