  • Kundapur: Mahesh Poojari Elected President of Mobile Retailers Association Kundapura-Byndoor Unit

    Kundapur, August 27, 2025 – The Kundapur-Byndoor unit of the Dakshina Kannada-Udupi Mobile Retailers Association was established during a meeting held at the Vishwabrahmana Samaja Seva Sangha hall in Kundapur. Mahesh Poojari, owner of Smart Tech, Navunda, was unanimously elected as president, and Karunakara Acharya Maravanthe of M2K Mobile, Kundapur, was appointed as secretary. The formation of the taluk-level committee under the guidance of the Udupi union aims to address challenges faced by mobile repair and retail businesses, including financial strain due to unhealthy competition and market difficulties.

    The meeting highlighted the need for a unified organization to tackle these issues and foster sustainable business practices.   • Byndoor: Theft at Kanchika Durgaparameshwari Temple, Gold and Silver Ornaments Stolen

    Byndoor, August 23, 2025 – A theft was reported at the Kanchika Durgaparameshwari Temple in Bada village, Byndoor, where unknown culprits stole valuable ornaments from the deity. The complainant, Subramanya Bhat, the temple priest, stated that on August 22, 2025, he completed the morning puja by 9:00 AM and left for the nearby Nagaraban to perform additional rituals, leaving the main temple door ajar. Upon returning at 10:45 AM, he found the door open and discovered that a 2-gram gold nose ring and a 1-gram gold pendant attached to a silver Karimanisara necklace, adorning the deity, were missing. The stolen items are estimated to be worth ₹30,000.

    The Byndoor police registered a case under Crime No. 154/2025, invoking Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Section 331(3) addresses theft in a sacred place, punishable by up to seven years imprisonment and a fine, while Section 305 covers theft, with penalties up to two years imprisonment, a fine, or both.

  • Byndoor: Passenger Drugged with Chocolate, Robbed of ₹4.86 Lakh Worth of Gold and Cash on Train

    Byndoor, August 20, 2025: A theft incident involving a passenger drugged with a laced chocolate was reported at Byndoor Police Station in Udupi district. The complainant, Harish from Bantwal, was traveling by train from Karwar to Mangaluru on August 10, 2025, when an unidentified man, approximately 35 years old, boarded at Bhatkal. After introducing himself, the stranger offered Harish a chocolate, which caused him to fall asleep. Upon waking the next morning, Harish discovered that valuables worth ₹4.86 lakh were missing.

    The stolen items include a 28-gram gold chain valued at ₹2,35,000, an 8-gram gold ring worth ₹70,000, a Fast Track watch priced at ₹3,500, a OnePlus mobile phone (SIM: 96866*****) valued at ₹28,000, ₹5,000 cash from his shirt pocket, and ₹1,45,000 cash from his bag, totaling ₹4,86,500. Harish filed a complaint detailing the theft, and the Byndoor police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for theft and cheating. The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect.

  • Byndoor: Khidma Foundation Donates Chairs and Stretcher Trolleys to Byndoor Community Health Centre

    Kundapur, August 17, 2025: As part of Independence Day celebrations, the Khidma Foundation’s Kundapura and Byndoor taluk units donated chairs and stretcher trolleys to the Byndoor Community Health Centre to improve patient facilities. Additionally, fruits were distributed to patients at the hospital during a program held on August 15, 2025.

    Dr. Rajesh C. Saukoor, Administrative Medical Officer of the health centre, addressed the gathering, noting that the hospital serves numerous patients from surrounding villages daily but faces a shortage of medical equipment. He expressed gratitude for the donation, stating it would enhance service delivery. Dr. Saukoor also highlighted the need to upgrade the facility to a taluk hospital, with a proposal already submitted to the government, especially since Byndoor has been designated a taluk centre.

    Former Zilla Panchayat member Suresh Batwadi praised the hospital staff’s dedication and the foundation’s contribution, emphasizing that patients from all communities benefit from the facility, and the donation will significantly improve public convenience.   • Byndoor: Udupi Police Launch Ambitious Drishti Scheme to Enhance Safety

    Byndoor, August 13, 2025: The Udupi District Police, in collaboration with Byndoor Police Station, inaugurated the ambitious Drishti scheme at Byndoor Rotary Bhavan on Tuesday, aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing crime across the district. The initiative, launched under the directives of the State Home Department, seeks to ensure safety reaches every household.

    District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, who inaugurated the event, outlined the scheme’s objectives. “Under the Drishti scheme, each guard will be responsible for overseeing 50 to 150 households, providing critical information to police teams. Trained and skilled personnel will be appointed to reduce criminal activities,” he said. Additionally, he announced the Garuda scheme, under which 600 CCTV cameras will be installed across 110 locations, with a pilot implementation at 20 sites.

    K. Babu Shetty, president of the Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple Management Committee, emphasized the importance of people-friendly initiatives. “Such programs strengthen police-public collaboration, helping reduce crime rates and prevent incidents like theft,” he said.

  • Byndoor: Nagoor man Loses ₹10.15 Lakh in Online Share Trading Scam

    yndoor, August 12, 2025 – A resident of Nagoor in Kirimanjeshwara, Altaf Husen (42), fell victim to an online share trading scam, losing ₹10.15 lakh, according to a complaint filed at Byndoor police station. The case was registered under sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the IT Act and sections 318(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as Crime No. 148/2025.

    On July 5, 2025, at around 10 AM, Altaf clicked a link on his Facebook account that added him to a WhatsApp group named ‘Next ***** Technology.’ In the group, a woman named Parinithi Jain (mobile: 94152*****) claimed to represent Next ******** Technology Pvt Ltd and provided share market information. Another member, Anup Tiwari (mobile: 82805*****), shared daily stock updates. On July 10, Parinithi sent Altaf a link to ‘sto***.ux***.com,’ along with login credentials to register an account.

    Trusting the company, Altaf transferred a total of ₹10.15 lakh via PhonePe and UPI to various bank accounts provided by the accused for purchasing shares and IPOs. On August 5, the website displayed his investment and profits totaling ₹75.42 lakh. However, when he attempted to withdraw the amount, his account was blocked. Parinithi informed him that a 20% commission was required, but even after requesting the remaining amount post-commission, the accused refused to comply.

    Suspecting foul play, Altaf visited the supposed company address in Bengaluru, only to discover no such company existed. Realizing he had been scammed, he filed a complaint with the Byndoor police.

    This incident highlights the growing threat of online share trading frauds, with scammers using social media and fake websites to exploit victims. Police are investigating, and the public is urged to verify the legitimacy of investment platforms before transferring funds.

  • Byndoor: Youth Congress Committee Organizes Online Speech Contest for 79th Independence Day

    Byndoor, August 06, 2025: The Youth Congress Committee of the Byndoor Assembly Constituency has announced an online video speech contest to mark the 79th Independence Day.
