    Kota: Dr. Shivaram Karanth Teacher Award Presented to Outstanding Educators

    Kota, September 28, 2025 – The prestigious Dr. Shivaram Karanth Teacher Award was conferred on exemplary teachers at a ceremony held at Kota Karanth Theme Park. Organized by Karanth Foundation, Kota Tatthu Gram Panchayat, Udupi Haji Abdullah Saheb Memorial Charitable Trust, and other organizations, the event recognized educators for nurturing student talent.

    Dr. Ashok Kamat, Principal of Udupi Government Education and Teacher Training Institute, who inaugurated the program, stated, “The Dr. Shivaram Karantha Award is highly prestigious. All recipients who have accepted it in his name are praiseworthy. Teachers who identify and encourage student potential enable them to achieve greatness.”

    Ananda C. Kundar, President of Kota Amateshwari Temple Management Committee, presided over the event and said, “Dr. Shivaram Karantha is Kota’s proud son. Presenting the award in his name is a matter of pride for the Karantha Foundation.”

  • Kota: Gangolli Police ASI Injured in Bike Collision with Wild Bear on Highway

    Kota, September 25, 2025 – Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Basavaraj P.M. from Gangolli Police Station was injured when a wild bear collided with his bike near Manor in Kota on Tuesday morning, leading to a fall. The incident escalated when a speeding tipper truck from Kundapur ran over the bike and fled the scene.

    Basavaraj was returning home from patrol duty when the bear suddenly appeared, causing the accident. He sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

    A case has been registered at Kota Police Station.

  • Sasthan Toll Gate Accident: KSRTC Bus Crashes, 12 Passengers Injured

    Kota, August 24, 2025 – A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus traveling from Ilikal to Mangaluru rammed into a toll gate pole at Sasthan, near Kota, at approximately 4:45 AM on August 24, 2025, injuring 12 passengers. The bus, carrying 36 passengers, lost control, leading to the collision, as per preliminary reports from the Kota police.

    Of the injured, 12 passengers sustained injuries, with one woman reported to be in critical condition. The injured were promptly transported to private hospitals in Brahmavar and the Brahmavar Taluk Hospital with assistance from Jeevan Mitra ambulance services and fellow passengers. The Kota police visited the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

  • Sasthan: Fisherman Dies as Boat Capsizes in Rough Seas

    Udupi, August 22, 2025 – A tragic incident occurred off the coast of Sasthan Koditale, near the Sita River estuary in Udupi, when a fishing boat capsized due to strong waves on Friday morning, August 22, 2025. The accident claimed the life of Sharath Kharvi, a 27-year-old fisherman, while his companions, Akshay Kharvi and Manjunath Kharvi, narrowly escaped and swam to shore.

    The three fishermen had ventured into the sea for fishing when their boat overturned in the turbulent waters near the estuary. While Akshay and Manjunath managed to reach the shore, Sharath drowned in the mishap. The survivors are currently receiving medical treatment at Udupi District Hospital. The boat was lost to the sea, resulting in financial damages estimated to be in the lakhs of rupees.

    A case has been registered at Kota Police Station (UDR No. 45/2025, Section 194 BNSS) to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

  • Udupi MP Kota Srinivas Poojary Urges ED Probe into Alleged Foreign Funding for “Muslim YouTuber” in Dharmasthala Temple Conspiracy

    Udupi, August 19, 2025: Kota Srinivas Poojary, Member of Parliament from Udupi-Chikmagalur, has formally requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into alleged foreign funding received by a “Muslim YouTuber” and associates attempting to tarnish the reputation of the Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka. In a letter dated August 19, 2025, Poojary expressed concerns over a conspiracy targeting the revered 800-year-old Hindu temple, which he claims is being fueled by external financial support.

    Poojary’s letter points to statements by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who acknowledged a conspiracy against the temple, and Dakshina Kannada’s district in-charge minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, who noted that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under pressure from Left-wing groups to probe allegations of mass burials based on an anonymous complainant’s claims. He criticized the Karnataka government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for endorsing the SIT probe, which has led to excavations near sacred sites like the Bahubali statue, causing distress among devotees.

    The MP highlighted reports suggesting that a Muslim YouTuber and associates, allegedly receiving foreign funds, are orchestrating a campaign to defame the temple. Additionally, he alleged that a Tamil Nadu politician is pressuring the Congress high command to undermine Hindu faith in Karnataka. Poojary urged the ED to probe these financial links to uncover the truth and protect the temple’s sanctity, emphasizing the need to maintain communal harmony in the region.

    ಕೋಟ, ಜೂನ್ 04, 2025:: ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಶಿರಿಯಾರ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಸಾಹೈಬರಕಟ್ಟೆ ರಿಕ್ಷಾ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಸಮೀಪ ಐಪಿಎಲ್ ಟಿ20 ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಪಂದ್ಯಾವಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದ ಮೂವರನ್ನು ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ದಿನಾಂಕ 03-06-2025 ರಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ, ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯ ಉಪನಿರೀಕ್ಷಕ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಸಿ. ಅವರಿಗೆ, ಸಾಹೈಬರಕಟ್ಟೆ ರಿಕ್ಷಾ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದ ಸಮೀಪ ಕೆಲವು ಯುವಕರು ರಾಯಲ್ ಚಾಲೆಂಜರ್ಸ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು (ಆರ್‌ಸಿಬಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಪಂಜಾಬ್ ಕಿಂಗ್ಸ್ (ಪಿಬಿಕೆಎಸ್) ತಂಡಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಐಪಿಎಲ್ ಟಿ20 ಫೈನಲ್ ಪಂದ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಂದ ಹಣ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ದೊರೆತಿತ್ತು.

    ಈ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಆರೋಪಿಗಳಾದ ಶಿವರಾಜ್ (1ನೇ ಆರೋಪಿ), ಪ್ರದೀಪ್ (2ನೇ ಆರೋಪಿ), ಮತ್ತು ಚಂದ್ರ ಜನ್ನಾಡಿ (3ನೇ ಆರೋಪಿ) ಎಂಬವರನ್ನು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆರೋಪಿಗಳು ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಆನ್‌ಲೈನ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗ್ ಆಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟ್‌ ಮೂಲಕ ಆರ್‌ಸಿಬಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪಿಬಿಕೆಎಸ್ ತಂಡಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಬೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದರು.

    ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಆರೋಪಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಬಳಸಿದ ಮೂರು ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಘಟನೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧ ಕ್ರಮಾಂಕ 110/2025, ಕಲಂ: 112 BNS ಮತ್ತು 78(i)(iii) KP Act ರಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತನಿಖೆ ಚಾಲನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

    ಕೋಟ: ದಿನಾಂಕ 01/06/2025ರಂದು ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯ ಉಪನಿರೀಕ್ಷಕರು (ತನಿಖೆ) ಸುಧಾಪ್ರಭು ಅವರು ರೌಂಡ್ಸ್ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ, ಚಿತ್ರಪಾಡಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಸಾಲಿಗ್ರಾಮ ಜಂಕ್ಷನ್ ಬಳಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಟ್ಕಾ ಜುಗಾರಿ ಆಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಬಂದಿತು. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿದ ಪೊಲೀಸರು, ಆರೋಪಿತ ವಿಜಯನನ್ನು ಕೃತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಆರೋಪಿತನಿಂದ ರೂ. 1,400 ನಗದು, ಮಟ್ಕಾ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಬರೆದ ಚೀಟಿ, ಜುಗಾರಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿದ ಬಾಲ್‌ಪೆನ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್‌ನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧ ಕ್ರಮಾಂಕ 109/2025, ಕಲಂ 78 KP ಆಕ್ಟ್ ಮತ್ತು 112 BNS ರಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದೆ. ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ.

    ಕೋಟ: ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿಡಿಯೋವೊಂದನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಕೋಮು ಸಂಘರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸಿ, ಕೋಮು ಗಲಭೆ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದ ಆರೋಪದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಆರೋಪಿಯೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಮೇ 31, 2025ರಂದು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಬಂಧಿತ ಆರೋಪಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಜಿಪಂ ಸದಸ್ಯ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಕಾಂಚನ್ ಬಾರಿಕೆರೆ. ಈತನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಡಬಲ್ ಮರ್ಡರ್ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳು ದಾಖಲಾಗಿವೆ. ಬಂಧನದ ನಂತರ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಆರೋಪಿಯನ್ನು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾಜರುಪಡಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ರಿಯಾಜ್ ಪರಂಗಿ ಪೇಟೆ ಎಂಬವರ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿಡಿಯೋವನ್ನು (2021ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸೆನ್ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದೆ) ಶೇರ್ ಮಾಡಿ, ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಹಿಂದೂ ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಕೋಮು ಸಂಘರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಮು ಗಲಭೆಗೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುವ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಕಾಂಚನ್ ಬಾರಿಕೆರೆ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಈತನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧ ಕ್ರಮಾಂಕ 108/2025ರಡಿ ಕಲಂ 196, 56 BNS ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದೆ.

    ಮಂಗಳೂರು/ಉಡುಪಿ, ಮೇ 29, 2025: ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಐಪಿಎಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಗಣನೀಯ ವರ್ಗಾವಣೆಯನ್ನು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಉಡುಪಿ ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

    ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಡಾ. ಅರುಣ್ ಕೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅವರು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಹೊಸ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿ ನೇಮಕಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ, ಮಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಆಯುಕ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅನುಪಮ್ ಅಗರ್ವಾಲ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳ ಉಪಮಹಾನಿರೀಕ್ಷಕರ (ಡಿಐಜಿ) ಹುದ್ದೆಗೆ ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
