  • Kundapur: Youth Dies by Suicide at Home

    Kundapur, August 22, 2025 – Nikhil Kumar, a 26-year-old resident of Moodlakatte Janata Colony, Kandavar village, Kundapur taluk, died by suicide on August 20, 2025. The son of complainant Venkatesh, aged 49, Nikhil worked as a fish truck driver. While his parents and sister were away in Ranebennur for personal work, Nikhil, reportedly battling personal issues and mental distress, took his life between 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM by hanging himself with a shawl tied to an iron ring on the RCC structure of his home near Ambedkar Bhavan.

    The incident was reported to the Kundapur Police Station, where a case has been registered under UDR No. 27/2025, Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, which mandates police inquiry into unnatural deaths, including suicides. The police are investigating the circumstances leading to Nikhil’s death, with a focus on ensuring a thorough probe as per legal protocols. No foul play is suspected at this stage, but the investigation continues to ascertain the reasons behind his distress.

  • Kundapura: Bus-lorry collision leaves several people including students injured, 6 hospitalized

    Kundapur, August 18, 2025 – A major accident occurred today on National Highway 66 near Aarate Mullikatte Bridge, between Kundapur and Trasi in Udupi district, when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus collided with a truck. The collision injured several passengers, including students, and led to significant traffic disruptions lasting several hours. Local residents and volunteers worked tirelessly alongside authorities to clear the highway.

    The MH Ibrahim Gangolli 24×7 Helpline Apathbandava ambulance team promptly arrived at the scene to provide emergency medical assistance, transferring the injured to nearby hospitals. Personnel from the Highway Police, 112 Police, Gangolli Police Station, and highway staff were also present to manage the situation and assist with rescue efforts.

    The cause of the accident and the full extent of injuries are still under investigation. Authorities are working to gather more details, and updates will follow as the situation develops.

    Kundapur, August 16, 2025: A businessman and his son had a miraculous escape when a lorry transporting onions from Pune to Mangaluru crashed into their parked Innova car on National Highway-66 at Thekkatte, Kundapur, late on August 15, 2025. The collision left the car completely mangled, but the occupants, Ananth Nayak (57), managing director of Sri Ganesh Silks, Thekkatte, and his son Anoop Nayak (23), emerged unscathed.

    The incident occurred while Ananth and Anoop were waiting by the roadside with the car’s parking lights on, preparing to head to Koteshwar Sri Pattabhi Ramachandra Temple for a bhajanotsava program. Anoop credited their survival to wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

    Kota police promptly arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case to investigate the accident. Further details regarding the cause and any legal action against the lorry driver are under review.

  • Kundapur: Body of Man Found in Sannakere Near Kotilingeshwara Temple

    Kundapur, August 14, 2025 : On August 13, 2025, at around 4:00 PM, Lokesh (38), a gram panchayat member from Koteshwara village, Kundapur, received information about a body in Sannakere near Kotilingeshwara Temple. Upon inspection, he found a man’s body floating in the water, wearing a red shirt, slippers on both feet, and carrying a mobile phone and purse in his pant pocket. The mobile phone revealed the deceased’s identity as Ganesh from Hombadi, aged approximately 40-45, with a wheatish complexion and average build.

    Police suspect that between August 12 and August 13, 2025, Ganesh may have accidentally slipped and fallen into the lake near the temple, leading to his death. A case has been registered at Kundapura Police Station under UDR No. 45/2025, Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Investigations are ongoing to confirm the cause of death and other details.

    ಶಾಸಕ ಎ. ಕಿರಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಕೊಡ್ಗಿ ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸುದ್ದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಕುಂದಾಪುರ-ತೊಂಬಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆಯ ಕೊರತೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಸಚಿವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿ, ಈ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರ ಅನುಕೂಲಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 7:30 ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲ 4:45ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ನಿಗಮದ ಬಸ್ ಓಡಿಸುವ ಆದೇಶ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸೇವೆಯಿಂದ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಸುಗಮವಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

    ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ರಸ್ತೆ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ (ಕೆಎಸ್‌ಆರ್‌ಟಿಸಿ) ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಘಟಕವು ಜುಲೈ 12, 2025ರಂದು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನ ಸಮಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಹರಿಪ್ರಸಾದ ಶೆಟ್ಟರಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರ ಬರೆದು, ಜುಲೈ 15, 2025ರಿಂದ ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಸ್ ಸೇವೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಿತ್ತು.
