  • Kundapur: Technical Glitch Causes Boat to Crash into Shore, Inflicting Over Rs 10 Lakh Damage

    Kundapur, September 20, 2025 – A fishing boat suffered extensive damage after crashing into the shore due to an engine failure near Hangarakatte, resulting in losses exceeding Rs 10 lakh, though all five crew members escaped unharmed.

    The boat, named Mahakali and owned by Prakash Kundar from Kodibengre, departed from Kodibengre Fishing Harbor on September 17 morning for a fishing expedition. In the afternoon, while operating near Hangarakatte Harbor, the engine suddenly stalled due to a technical issue. Despite repeated attempts to restart it, the engine failed to respond.

    Caught in strong winds and waves, the boat drifted towards the shore and crashed into the coast near Kodya Kanyana village in Kody Seaside. The five fishermen on board managed to escape safely, but the boat and its equipment were severely damaged, leading to significant financial losses estimated at over Rs 10 lakh.

  • Udupi: Bus and Car Collide Near Santhekatte, Passengers Escape Major Harm

    Udupi, September 20, 2025 – A collision occurred between a private bus and a car on National Highway 66 near Santhekatte, Udupi city, with passengers narrowly escaping serious injury.

    The private bus, traveling from Udupi to Davanagere via Kundapur, collided with a Crysta Fortuner car attempting a U-turn near the divider at Robosoft in Santekatte. The impact damaged both the bus and the car, with passengers in the car sustaining minor injuries, as per initial reports.

    SI Prakash S visited the site and conducted an inspection. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident to determine further action.

  • Manipal: Three Students Arrested for Assaulting Classmate in College

    Manipal, September 20, 2025 – Manipal police have arrested three students from a prestigious college in connection with an assault on a classmate inside a classroom, following a complaint lodged at the Manipal Police Station.

    The arrested individuals are identified as Vikram Veer Singh, Rajveer Singh, and Shah Krish Malav, all students of the same college. On September 18, during morning classes, the accused allegedly abused and threatened Raj Girish Suvarna and his friend Satvik Bhandari, both pursuing Business Management, with abusive language and life threats before launching a violent assault.

    Following a police investigation, it was confirmed that the accused had consumed narcotic substances prior to the incident. A case was registered at Manipal Police Station, and the trio was apprehended. They were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

  • Udupi: Five Interstate Thieves Arrested in Jewelry Workshop Theft Case; Assets Worth Rs 87 Lakh Seized

    Udupi, September 20, 2025 – Udupi City Police have cracked a daring theft at a gold melting shop in Chittaranjan Circle, arresting five accused and recovering assets valued at over Rs 87 lakh. The burglars had used a duplicate key to break the shutter lock and stolen gold, silver, and cash worth Rs 95 lakh.

    The arrested individuals are Shubham Tanaji Sathe (25), Pravin Appa Sathe, Nilesh Baapu Kasturi from Solapur, Sagar Dattatreya Kandagale (32) from Solapur, and Bagav Rohit Shrimant (25).

    The operation, conducted on September 12 in Malshirose taluk, Nimgaon, Solapur district, Maharashtra, led to the recovery of 748.8 grams of gold (Rs 74.88 lakh), 4 kg 445 grams of silver (Rs 3.60 lakh), Rs 5 lakh in cash, and a Maruti Swift car used in the crime (Rs 4 lakh), totaling Rs 87.48 lakh.

    The breakthrough was achieved under the leadership of Inspector Manjunath V. Badiger of Udupi City Police Station.

  • Hemmadi: Body of Missing College Student Found on Gangolli Riverbank

    Kundapur, September 20, 2025 – The body of a first-year PU student who went missing after leaving college on Thursday evening was discovered on Saturday morning along the Dakuhitlu riverbank in Gangolli. Intensive searches involving police, fire services, and locals had been ongoing since the disappearance.

    Namesh (17), son of Lavish Poojary from Hemmadi Santosh Nagar, was a student at a private college. He left his iPhone at home, as recently gifted by his father, and rode his bike from college but never reached home. His bike and college bag were found near the Kannadakudru riverbank, prompting fears for his safety.

    Intensive Search Efforts
    When Namesh did not return even after nightfall, his family filed a missing person report at Kundapur City Police Station and initiated searches. On Friday, the hunt continued with assistance from the fire department and local swimmer Dinesh Kharvi from Gangolli. Despite efforts until evening, no trace was found in the Kannadakudru river.

    The body was spotted on Saturday morning near Dakuhitlu riverbank in Gangolli. Police investigations will determine the exact cause of death.

  • Honnavar: Two Arrested in Bike Overtake Altercation; Victim Stabbed with Knife

    Honnavar, September 19, 2025 – Uttara Kannada police have arrested two individuals in connection with a violent altercation stemming from a bike overtaking incident in Honnavar on September 18, 2025, as detailed in an official press release.

    Around 1:45 PM, Vivek Suresh Naik and Sudeep Naik from Santhi village were riding their bike from Gerusoppe towards Uppooni. Near Mavina Hole Bus Stand, Vivek attempted to overtake another bike, leading to an altercation. The occupants of the other bike, accused Mohammed Adnan (26, Muslimkeri, Honnavar) and Pradeep Ambiga (26, Mavina Hole, Honnavar), allegedly made obscene gestures, escalating into a verbal fight.

    During the scuffle, Mohammed Adnan reportedly pulled out a knife from his pocket and attempted to stab Vivek Naik, causing injuries. Vivek was immediately hospitalized and is reported to be stable.

    A case has been registered at Honnavar Police Station, with Circle Inspector conducting the investigation. Considering the gravity of the incident, police swiftly apprehended Mohammed Asnan and Pradeep Ambiga, producing them before the court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.

    Investigations confirm the clash was not motivated by communal or old enmity but arose from a sudden provocation. Authorities have warned against spreading false news or misinformation about the incident, stating that legal action will be taken against those engaging in such activities.

  • Bengaluru: Dasara Holidays Declared for School Students from September 20 to October 7, 2025

  • Kundapur: Police and 24×7 Helpline Ambulance Team Rescue Two Mentally Distressed Individuals from National Highway

    Kundapur, September 19, 2025: On Tuesday, September 16, Kundapur police and the Gangolli 24×7 Helpline Ambulance team successfully rescued two mentally distressed individuals wandering on the Kundapur-Byndoor National Highway, ensuring their safe admission to rehabilitation centers.

    Manish Lakshman from Maharashtra was found in a distressed state by the roadside near Nagoor. He was rescued by Ibrahim MH Gangolli and Vikas Mogaveer of the Gangolli 24×7 Helpline Ambulance team and admitted to Hosabaduku Ashram in Saligrama.

    In a separate incident, Ravidas, who was walking in the middle of the highway near Trasi-Maravanthe Bridge with a bundle on his head, causing concern, was apprehended by 112 police personnel, along with Ibrahim MH Gangolli, Vikas Mogaveer of the 24×7 Helpline ambulance team and Krishna Nayakvadi. He was admitted to Snehalaya Ashram in Manjeshwar.
