    Kaup, August 24, 2025 – A tragic accident occurred near Koppalangadi on National Highway 66 (NH66) in Kaup at around 3:30 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025, when a speeding car struck and killed a pedestrian attempting to cross the road. The victim, identified as Peeru Saheb, a 70-year-old resident of Koppalangadi, suffered severe injuries and passed away while being transported to a private hospital in Udupi.

    According to reports, the car was traveling from Mangaluru towards Udupi when it collided with Peeru Saheb, who was standing to cross the highway. The Udupi SDPI ambulance service assisted in rushing the victim to the hospital, but he could not be saved. Kaup police arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

  • Sasthan Toll Gate Accident: KSRTC Bus Crashes, 12 Passengers Injured

    Kota, August 24, 2025 – A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus traveling from Ilikal to Mangaluru rammed into a toll gate pole at Sasthan, near Kota, at approximately 4:45 AM on August 24, 2025, injuring 12 passengers. The bus, carrying 36 passengers, lost control, leading to the collision, as per preliminary reports from the Kota police.

    Of the injured, 12 passengers sustained injuries, with one woman reported to be in critical condition. The injured were promptly transported to private hospitals in Brahmavar and the Brahmavar Taluk Hospital with assistance from Jeevan Mitra ambulance services and fellow passengers. The Kota police visited the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

  • Kapu: Renowned DJ Mervin Mendonca Dies in Tragic Car Accident, Three Others Seriously Injured

    Kapu, August 23, 2025 – A tragic car accident in the early hours of Saturday, August 23, 2025, near Kapu resulted in the death of Mervin Mendonca, a 35-year-old celebrated DJ, cinematographer, and newlywed from Belman. Three other passengers, identified as Prajwal from Ambalpady, Prasad from Karkala, and Vignesh, were seriously injured in the incident.

    The group was traveling from Ambalpady to Belman in a car when a dog reportedly crossed their path on National Highway 66 near Muloor, close to Halli Mane Hotel. The driver, Prajwal, swerved to avoid hitting the animal, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn. The car was completely wrecked, and Mervin succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The injured were rushed to a private hospital in Udupi by Uchila and Muloor SDPI ambulances, with two of them reported to be in critical condition. Ambulance drivers K.M. Siraj, Hameed, and social worker Jamaluddin Uchila assisted in the rescue efforts.

    Kapu police visited the site and initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. A case is likely to be registered to probe potential factors such as road conditions or speeding. Mervin, a well-known figure in Udupi and Mangaluru, had released a new Konkani music video on YouTube for APD Music just a day earlier, which he had personally directed and filmed.   • Kundapur: Maruti Car Collides with Bolero Pickup on Haladi-Bidkal Katte State Road, Injuring Workers

    Kundapur, August 18, 2025 – A severe accident occurred around 3:00 PM today on the Haladi-Bidkal Katte state road near Bajaj Motor Service in Haladi, Kundapur taluk, Udupi district. A Maruti S-Cross car, driven by youths from Shirala Koppa, Shivamogga district, collided with a Bolero pickup goods vehicle, causing serious injuries to laborers standing at the rear of the pickup. The car was reportedly returning from Shri Brahmalingeshwara Temple in Maranakatte when the high-speed collision occurred.

    Preliminary reports suggest the three youths in the Maruti S-Cross were under the influence of alcohol and driving recklessly, leading to the crash with the oncoming Bolero pickup. The impact caused severe injuries to the laborers, who were immediately rushed to Kundapur Government Hospital for treatment.

    Sub-Inspector Hiregowda from Shankar Narayana Police Station visited the site and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Shankar Narayana Police Station, and further details are awaited as the investigation continues.

  • Yellapur: Three Dead, Several Injured in KSRTC Bus Crash on NH-66 Near Hittina Bail

    Yellapur, August 16, 2025 – A tragic accident occurred late on August 15, 2025, around 11 p.m., near Hittina Bail in Yellapur taluk, Uttara Kannada district, when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus (KA-19-F-3470) traveling from Amminagad, Bagalkot, to Dharmasthala crashed into a stationary Kerala-registered lorry on National Highway-66. The collision resulted in the deaths of three passengers and severe injuries to several others.

    The deceased have been identified as Neelavva Yalagurdappa Haradolli (Guledagudda, Bagalkot district), Girijavva Ayyappa Budannavar (Jalihal, Badami taluk), and an unidentified man aged approximately 45. The injured, including Ramesh Chandappa Kittali, Chidananda Kittali, Mallappa Yamanappa Katti, Manjula Galappa Halabar, Mallikarjun Andala, Devaki Bellli, Sameera Begum, and Sharifa Begum, were admitted to Yellapur Government Hospital for treatment.

    Preliminary investigations suggest the lorry, parked without indicators or safety measures, contributed to the crash, alongside the bus driver’s high speed and negligence. The impact severely damaged one side of the bus. Yellapur police, led by CPI Ramesh Hanapur and PSI Yallaling Kunnuru, shifted the injured to the hospital and the deceased to the Yellapur mortuary. A case has been registered against the bus driver, Yamanappa Magi (Alamatti, Vijayapura district), and the lorry driver at Yellapur police station, with investigations ongoing to determine further details.

  • Kundapur: Lorry Crashes into Parked Car in Thekkatte; Businessman and Son Escape Unharmed

    Kundapur, August 16, 2025: A businessman and his son had a miraculous escape when a lorry transporting onions from Pune to Mangaluru crashed into their parked Innova car on National Highway-66 at Thekkatte, Kundapur, late on August 15, 2025. The collision left the car completely mangled, but the occupants, Ananth Nayak (57), managing director of Sri Ganesh Silks, Thekkatte, and his son Anoop Nayak (23), emerged unscathed.

    The incident occurred while Ananth and Anoop were waiting by the roadside with the car’s parking lights on, preparing to head to Koteshwar Sri Pattabhi Ramachandra Temple for a bhajanotsava program. Anoop credited their survival to wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

    Kota police promptly arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case to investigate the accident. Further details regarding the cause and any legal action against the lorry driver are under review.

  • Karwar: Fatal Bike Accident Near Divekar College on NH-66 Claims One Life, Injures Another

    Karwar, August 14, 2025 – A tragic accident occurred this morning near Divekar Commercial College on National Highway-66 in Karwar, Uttara Kannada district, claiming the life of Michael Marshal Narona (42), a resident of Sadashivgad. According to police reports, Michael was riding a bike from Sadashivgad to Karwar when he collided with the rear of a stationary KSRTC bus. At the same time, a Bolero pickup vehicle following behind struck the bike, leading to Michael’s death at the scene.

    The pillion rider, Arun Subraya Naik, sustained severe head injuries and was immediately admitted to Karwar District Hospital for treatment. The bike was completely damaged, and the pickup vehicle also sustained damage. Karwar Traffic Police visited the site, conducted an inspection, and registered a case to investigate the circumstances of the accident. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and sequence of events.

  • Fatal Accident in Padubidri Claims One Life

    Padubidri, August 9, 2025: A tragic accident occurred near Hejamadi Mini Toll on National Highway 66 in Udupi district, resulting in the death of a local resident, Tushar, on August 8, 2025.

    According to the complainant, Praveen Kumar (47), a resident of Hejamadi village, Kapu taluk, the incident took place at 1:05 PM. Tushar, also from Hejamadi, had stopped his two-wheeler (KA-20-HB-0421) near the toll while crossing the highway. At the same time, a bus named Reshma (KA-20-AA-8533), driven recklessly from Mulki towards Padubidri, veered to the left side of the road and collided with Tushar’s parked vehicle. The impact threw Tushar onto the road, causing severe injuries to the back of his head, bleeding from his mouth and nose, and abrasions on both legs.

    Tushar was rushed to Srinivas Hospital in Mukka via the toll’s ambulance for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at 5:50 PM. The Padubidri police have registered a case under sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS (Crime No. 92/2025) and are investigating the incident.

    ಅಂಕೋಲ, ಜುಲೈ 21, 2025:  ಇಂದು ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಜಾವ ಸುಮಾರು 3 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಅಂಕೋಲಾ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಅಗಸೂರು ಬಳಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭೀಕರ ಅಪಘಾತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದೆ.

    ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಯಿಂದ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ-ಅಂಕೋಲಾ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕಡೆಗೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಬಸ್, ಚಾಲಕನ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ತಪ್ಪಿ, ಕಿರು ಸೇತುವೆಗೆ ಡಿಕ್ಕಿ ಹೊಡೆದು ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದ ಹಳ್ಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ.

    ಈ ದುರ್ಘಟನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 18 ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಐವರು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಕಾರವಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ರವಾನಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

    ಈ ಅಪಘಾತದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರೊಬ್ಬರು ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿದೆ.

    ಚಾಲಕನ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅತಿ ವೇಗವೇ ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿದೆ. ಅನೇಕ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಸಣ್ಣಪುಟ್ಟ ಗಾಯಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಾಪಾಯದಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಸ್ ಹಳ್ಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿದ್ದರೂ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಅಪಾಯದಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗಿರುವುದು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ ಸಂಗತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಘಟನೆ ಕುರಿತು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಬೇಕಿದೆ.

  • ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಸೇಲಂ ಹೈವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸರಣಿ ಅಪಘಾತ – 7 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗು ಸೇರಿ ಮೂವರು ಸಾವು

    ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಸೇಲಂ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಸರಣಿ ಅಪಘಾತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿ 7 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗು ಸೇರಿ ಮೂವರು ಸಾವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಕೃಷ್ಣಗಿರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಸೇಲಂ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನ ದಟ್ಟಣೆಯ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಭೀಕರ ಸರಣಿ ಅಪಘಾತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದೆ. ಅಪಘಾತದ ಭೀಕರತೆಗೆ ಮಗು ಸೇರಿ ಮೂವರು ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    2 ಟ್ರಕ್, 2 ಕಾರು ಹಾಗೂ 1 ಬೈಕ್ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಡಿಕ್ಕಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಡಿಕ್ಕಿಯ ರಭಸಕ್ಕೆ 2 ಟ್ರಕ್‌ಗಳ ನಡುವೆ 2 ಕಾರು ಹಾಗೂ ಬೈಕ್ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ನಜ್ಜುಗುಜ್ಜಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಾರಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮೂವರು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ಸಾವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 7 ಮಂದಿ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

    ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕಾಗಮಿಸಿದ ಕೃಷ್ಣಗಿರಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಅಪಘಾತವಾದ ವಾಹನಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
