  • Renukaswamy Murder Case: Actor Darshan, Pavithra Gowda Arrested After Supreme Court Cancels Bail

    Bengaluru, August 14, 2025 – Following the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the bail granted to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, Pavithra Gowda, and other accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, Bengaluru police took both Darshan and Pavithra into custody on August 14, 2025. Pavithra Gowda was arrested by Annapoorneshwari Nagar police in the afternoon, while Darshan was apprehended near an apartment in Hosakerehalli, Bengaluru. Arrangements are being made to bring Darshan to the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station.

    The Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices J.B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan, overturned the Karnataka High Court’s bail order of December 13, 2024, criticizing it as riddled with “serious infirmities” and resembling a pre-trial acquittal. The court emphasized that “all are equal before the law” and cancelled the bail due to the potential risk of the accused influencing witnesses and derailing justice. The bench ordered immediate arrests and directed the trial to proceed expeditiously.

    The Renukaswamy murder case came to light on June 9, 2024, when the body of 33-year-old Renukaswamy from Chitradurga was found near a stormwater drain in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru. Police allege that Renukaswamy was abducted, tortured, and killed for sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, a close associate of Darshan. In September 2024, Bengaluru police filed a 3,991-page chargesheet, naming Pavithra Gowda as accused number one and Darshan as accused number two, along with 15 others. The investigation revealed that the victim was held in a shed for three days before his death.

  • Kerala Youth Arrested in Manipal for Reckless Driving and Tinted Car Violation

    Udupi, August 12, 2025 – Manipal police arrested a 26-year-old man from Kerala on Monday, August 11, for reckless and dangerous driving near MIT Junction. The accused, identified as Shohail Neelakath, a resident of Kandagan in Kannur, Kerala, was driving a car with fully tinted windows, posing a threat to human lives and creating a public nuisance.

    According to reports, Neelakath was driving from Udupi towards Hiriyadka in a manner that endangered two-wheeler riders and other vehicles, producing excessive noise and driving erratically. The incident occurred near the Manipal post office. Acting swiftly, Manipal police pursued the vehicle and apprehended Neelakath along with the car near MIT Junction.

    A case has been registered at the Manipal police station under relevant sections for reckless driving and violations related to the use of fully tinted windows, which is prohibited under traffic regulations. The arrest follows heightened police vigilance in the Udupi-Manipal region to curb traffic violations and ensure public safety.

  • Mangaluru: Six Arrested, Over 5 Kilos of Ganja Seized in City-Wide Drug Crackdown

    Mangaluru, August 9, 2025: In a major operation under the ‘Drug-Free Mangaluru’ campaign, the Mangaluru city police arrested six individuals on August 8, seizing over 5 kilograms of ganja in a targeted crackdown on drug peddling networks focusing on college students, youth, and local residents.

    Kudroli: Ganja Peddler Nabbed

    Abdul Samad, alias Chammu, was arrested in the Kudroli–Khandatpalli area for covertly supplying ganja to college students and young adults. Police recovered 1.04 kilograms of ganja from his possession. A case has been registered at Mangaluru North police station, and Samad is in judicial custody.

    Mulki: College-Focused Peddling Busted

    In Kolnadu–Angappayyanakadu, under Mulki police station limits, Dharmalinga, a resident of Angappayya Kadu, was apprehended for selling ganja to students, laborers, and youth. Authorities seized 1.09 kilograms of ganja. A case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing.

    Bajpe: Bihar Duo Caught in Inter-State Drug Trade

    Daulat Kumar Sharma and Mohammad Khushalam, both from Bihar, were arrested in Maravoor under Bajpe police station for supplying ganja and bhang to local youth. Police seized 1.189 kilograms of ganja and 219 grams of bhang. Both are in custody, with a case registered.

    Padil: Two Youths Arrested

    In Kankanady police station limits near Padil, Karthik and Mohit were intercepted while attempting to sell 800 grams of ganja. The duo has been arrested and remanded to custody, with a case filed.

    Mangaluru East: Kerala Engineering Student Held

    Pranav K V, an engineering Peak student from Malappuram, Kerala, was arrested by Mangaluru East police for supplying ganja to students and locals. Police seized 1.1 kilograms of ganja from him. He has been remanded, and a case has been registered.

    Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated, “Interrogations have revealed leads on broader supply networks, including buyers linked to the arrested individuals. Dedicated teams are working across all police stations to apprehend others involved.” The operation underscores the police’s commitment to curbing the drug menace in Mangaluru.

  • Interstate Criminal with Multiple Cases Arrested in Puttur

    Puttur, August 9, 2025: An interstate accused wanted in both Kerala and Karnataka, identified as Ilyas P A, was arrested and produced before the Puttur court by the police on Friday.

    Ilyas, a resident of Viyyur in Thrissur district, Kerala, has several cases registered against him at Puttur town, Uppinangady, and Dharmasthala police stations. According to police, he is also wanted in over 20 cases in Kerala’s Thrissur and Malappuram districts.

    A special team formed under the guidance of Puttur sub-division DySP, and led by Uppinangady PSI Kaushik, successfully arrested the accused, the police statement said.

  • Kasargod YouTuber ‘Shalu King’ Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

    Kasargod, Jul 26, 2025: In a shocking development, popular YouTuber Mohammad Sali, known as ‘Shalu King,’ was arrested by Koyilandy police at Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday morning. The 35-year-old from Cheppinadka, near Kodiyamma in Kasargod, faces charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl under the pretext of marriage.

    Sali, who operates multiple social media channels, including Shalu King Media, Shalu King Vlogs, and Shalu King Family, has been active online for over seven years. Despite being married since 2016 and having three children, he allegedly lured a 15-year-old girl into a relationship via Instagram and Snapchat, promising marriage, before committing the assault.

    Following a complaint, the Koyilandy police registered a case under the POCSO Act. Sali reportedly fled abroad to evade arrest, prompting authorities to issue a Look Out Circular (LOC). Immigration officials detained him upon his arrival at Mangaluru International Airport and handed him over to the Kerala police.

    Sali is now in custody and is expected to be produced before a magistrate. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional details in the case.

    ಕಾರವಾರ, ಜುಲೈ 14, 2025: ಹದಿನಾರು ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆರೋಪಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಂತರ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ರೌಡಿಶೀಟರ್ ಪ್ರವೀಣ ಮನೋಹರ ಸುಧೀರ್ (37) ಎಂಬಾತನನ್ನು ಖಚಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಬಂಧಿಸಲು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಘಟನೆ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರದ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ-ಹಳಿಯಾಳ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಸಮೀಪದ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಘಟನೆ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ತಮ್ಮ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಫೈರಿಂಗ್ ನಡೆಸಿ ಆರೋಪಿಯನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ರಾಮನಗರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಪಡಿಸಿ ಜಾತಿ ನಿಂದನೆ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ, ಕೊಲೆ ಯತ್ನ, ಸುಲಿಗೆ, ಮಹಿಳೆಯರ ಮೇಲಿನ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ ಸೇರಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 16 ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳು ಆರೋಪಿ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದವು.

    ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಠಾಣಾ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೇರಿ ಬಳಿ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೀಣ ಅವಿತುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಪೊಲೀಸರು, ಆತನನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆಗ ಆರೋಪಿಯು ಚಾಕು ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್.ಐ ಮಹಾಂತೇಶ ನಾಯಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ನಡೆಸಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್.ಐ ಮಹಾಂತೇಶ ನಾಯಕ ತಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ವಿಸ್ ರಿವಾಲ್ವರ್‌ನಿಂದ 2 ಬಾರಿ ಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಫೈರ್ ಮಾಡಿ, ನಂತರ ಆರೋಪಿ ಪ್ರವೀಣ ನ ಬಲಗಾಲಿನ ಮಂಡಿಯ ಕೆಳಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಗುಂಡು ಹಾರಿಸಿ ಆತನನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಘಟನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್.ಐ ಮಹಾಂತೇಶ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಂಧಿತ ಆರೋಪಿ ಪ್ರವೀಣನನ್ನು ಸಹ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಘಟನಾ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ವರಿಷ್ಠಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

  • Karnataka: NIA Arrests 3 Key Accused in LeT Prison Radicalisation Case

    New Delhi, July 9, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested three key individuals, including a prison psychiatrist and a City Armed Reserve policeman, following extensive searches in two districts of Karnataka in connection with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group’s 2023 prison radicalisation case.

    The arrests were made at five locations in Bengaluru and Kolar districts, leading to the detention of Dr. Nagaraj, a psychiatrist at Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara, Bengaluru, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Chan Pasha, and Anees Fathima, the mother of an absconding accused. During the searches, various digital devices, cash, gold, and incriminating documents were seized from the houses of the arrested accused and other suspects.

    The case (RC-28/2023/NIA/DLI) relates to the recovery of arms, ammunition, explosives, and digital devices, including two walkie-talkies, from habitual offenders who were conspiring to unleash terror activities in Bengaluru city with the aim of furthering the nefarious agenda of the proscribed terrorist organization LeT.

    According to the investigation, Dr. Nagaraj was smuggling mobile phones for use by prison inmates, including Tadiyandaveed Naseer, a life-time convict lodged in terror cases at Central Prison, Bengaluru. Nagaraj was supported by Pavithra in this activity. Besides searching the houses of Nagaraj and Pavithra, the NIA also searched the house of Anees Fathima, where instructions from Naseer to her son, absconder Junaid Ahmed, for raising funds were found and handed over to T Naseer in prison.

    As per NIA investigations, ASI Chan Pasha had, in 2022, been involved in passing information related to T Naseer’s escort from prison to various courts in exchange for money. The NIA has already chargesheeted nine accused, including absconder Junaid Ahmed, under various sections of the IPC and UA(P) Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act in the case. Investigations and efforts to track the absconder are continuing.

    ಬೈಂದೂರು ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಉಪ್ಪುಂದ ನಿವಾಸಿ ಗೋಪಾಲ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ಖಾರ್ವಿ (೪೨), ಭಟ್ಕಳ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಪ್ಪದ ನಾಗರಾಜ ನಾರಾಯಣ ನಾಯ್ಕ (೩೪), ಸಿದ್ದಾಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಜಬ್ದಾರ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ ಸಾಬ್ (೩೩) ಬಂಧಿತರು. ಇನ್ನುಳಿದ ಆರೋಪಿಗಳಾದ ಮುರುಡೇಶ್ವರದ ಜಯಂತ ನಾರಾಯಣ ನಾಯ್ಕ, ಇರ್ಫಾನ್, ಶಿರಾಲಿ ಕೋಟೆಬಾಗಿಲು ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ಬಾಬು ಅಣ್ಣಪ್ಪ ನಾಯ್ಕ, ದತ್ತಾ ಮಾದೇವ ನಾಯ್ಕ, ಉತ್ತರಕೊಪ್ಪದ ಕುಮಾರ ಗೌಡ, ಬೈಂದೂರಿನ ರಾಜೇಶ ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ನಾಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಭಟ್ಕಳ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ನೂಜ್ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಬಳಿ ಮೇ ೩೧ರಂದು ಅಂದರ್-ಬಾಹರ್ ಜೂಗಾರಾಟ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆದಿತ್ತು. ದಾಳಿ ವೇಳೆ ೯೭೦೦ ರೂ. ನಗದು, ೪ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಉಳಿದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್.ಐ. ಭರಮಪ್ಪ ಬೆಳಗಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಉಡುಪಿ, ಮೇ 07, 2025: ಉಡುಪಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ನೇಜಾರು ತೃಪ್ತಿ ಲೇಔಟ್‌ನ ಪೆಟ್ರೋಲ್ ಪಂಪ್ ಸಮೀಪದ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾದಕ ವಸ್ತು ಸೇವಿಸಿರುವ ಶಂಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಸಾಲಿಕ್ (19) ಎಂಬ ಯುವಕನನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆರೋಪಿಯನ್ನು ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ತಪಾಸಣೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಡಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಗಾಂಜಾ ಸೇವನೆಯ ದೃಢೀಕರಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವರದಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.

    ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸೆನ್ ಅಪರಾಧ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧ ಕ್ರಮಾಂಕ 16/2025ರ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಂ 27(b) NDPS ಕಾಯ್ದೆಯಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.

    ಸುಹಾಸ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಕೊಲೆ ನಂತರ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಮೂರು ಕಡೆ ಚಾಕು ಇರಿತ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳು ವರದಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ 7 ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
