  • Shankarnarayana: Eight Arrested in Cockfighting and Gambling Raid; Assets Worth 43 Lac Seized

    Shankarnarayana, August 23, 2025 – On August 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM, Shankarnarayana police conducted a raid in Mabbli, Belanje village, Hebri taluk, arresting eight individuals engaged in illegal cockfighting and gambling. The accused, identified as Rohit Shetty, Charan Raj, Dinesh Rao, Arjun, Manjunath, Prashanth, Dayanand Poojari, and Santosh Shetty, were caught tying knives to roosters’ legs and betting money on the fights. The operation, led by PSI Shambhulingayya M. based on credible intelligence, was conducted in the presence of panch witnesses.

    The police seized 30 roosters (valued at ₹1,000 each, totaling ₹30,000), 10 cockfighting knives, 26 sacks for holding roosters, and ₹10,630 in cash used for betting. Additionally, six mobile phones (three Vivo and three Redmi, valued at ₹60,000) were confiscated from the accused. Vehicles abandoned at the scene by fleeing participants included 28 motorcycles, four cars, one Omni van, one EcoSport, one Bolero Jeep, and one auto-rickshaw, collectively valued at approximately ₹43,45,630. A list of 44 additional vehicles linked to fleeing individuals was recorded for further investigation.

    A case was registered at Shankarnarayana Police Station under Crime No. 78/2025, invoking Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, for causing unnecessary pain to animals (punishable by up to three months imprisonment or a ₹100 fine for first offenses), and Sections 87 and 93 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, for gambling in a public place (punishable by up to one month imprisonment or a ₹300 fine). The police are investigating to identify and apprehend additional suspects who fled the scene.

  • Gangtok: Chitradurga Congress MLA K.C. Veerendra Puppy Taken into ED Custody in Money Laundering Case

    Gangtok, August 22, 2025: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) took Chitradurga Congress MLA K.C. Veerendra Puppy into custody from a hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim, on Thursday night, August 21, 2025, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a money laundering racket linked to online gaming and betting operations. The action was carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), with a special ED team tracking Puppy, who represents the Chitradurga Assembly constituency, according to official sources.

    On Friday morning, August 22, 2025, the ED conducted coordinated raids at 30 locations across six states, including six premises in Chitradurga, ten in Bengaluru, three in Jodhpur, one in Hubballi, two in Mumbai, and eight in Goa. The searches targeted properties linked to Puppy, his brothers K.C. Nagaraja and K.C. Tippeswamy, and associates such as Kusuma Hanumantharayappa, Anil Gowda, and a hawala operator from Hubballi. The raids, including at Puppy’s residence near Veerabhadraswamy Temple in Challakere and an upscale apartment in Bengaluru’s Vasanth Nagar, resulted in the seizure of digital devices, financial records, documents, and one kilogram of gold.

    Preliminary findings indicate that Puppy and his associates operated illegal betting websites, including King567, Raja567, Puppy’s003, and Rathna Gaming, and held stakes in five Goa casinos: Puppy’s Casino Gold, Ocean Rivers Casino, Puppy’s Casino Pride, Ocean 7 Casino, and Big Daddy Casino. These platforms are alleged to have facilitated suspicious money transfers and financial irregularities.

    Pappy, who switched from JD(S) to Congress before the 2023 Assembly elections, previously faced scrutiny in 2016 when the Income Tax Department seized Rs 5.7 crore in new currency, 32 kilograms of gold, and Rs 90 lakh in old notes from his bathroom in Challakere.

  • Gangolli: Police Raid Gambling Den, Arrest Three in Harkuru

    Gangolli, August 17, 2025: On August 15, 2025, at 4:30 PM, Gangolli police, under the leadership of PSI Pavan Nayak, conducted a raid in a public place near Balehitlu in Harkuru village, following a tip-off from beat constable Mallappa about illegal card gambling. The operation, carried out with staff in the presence of witnesses, led to the arrest of three individuals:

    1. Chittaranjan (53)
    2. Mahabal Kuppayya Poojari (56)
    3. Ganesh Ganiga (55)

    Three others, identified as Chandra, Rajendra Devadiga, and Balaraj, fled the scene during the raid. The police seized ₹6,220 in cash, 52 playing cards of various types, and one polythene sheet used for the gambling activity. A case has been registered at Gangolli Police Station under Crime No. 87/2025, Section 87 of the Karnataka Police Act. Further investigations are ongoing to apprehend the absconding individuals.

  • Karwar: Strict Action Promised Against Illegal Lottery, Matka, and Betting in Uttara Kannada

    Karwar, August 12, 2025 – Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N. declared that the district police will take strict action to control the rising menace of illegal lotteries, matka gambling, and betting in Uttara Kannada. Speaking at the first quarterly meeting of the Anti-Gambling Squad 2025-26, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, he emphasized the department’s commitment to making the district a zone free of such illegal activities.

    In the current quarter, police have registered 86 matka-related cases, charging 101 individuals. SP Deepan urged the Anti-Gambling Squad members to take decisive steps to eradicate these illegal operations. “The police department will enforce the most stringent measures to curb unauthorized lotteries, matka, and betting activities,” he stated, highlighting the need for sustained vigilance.

    The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Ahmad Mulla, ASP Krishnamurthy, Commercial Tax Officer Shanmugappa Naregal, Anti-Gambling Squad coordinator and Assistant Director of the Pension Department Ganesh Patagar, Development Officer Kashimsab Mulla, Sholin D’Costa, and other officials.

    ಭಟ್ಕಳ, ಜುಲೈ 8, 2025 (ಸಂಜೆ 12:45 +04): ಭಟ್ಕಳ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಬೆಳಕೆ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ಪೀಟ ಎಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಣವನ್ನು ಪಂಥವಾಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಅಂದರ್ ಬಾಹರ್ ಜೂಗಾರಾಟ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ 4 ಜನ ಆರೋಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 1,98,030 ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ಸ್ವತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆಯಲಾಗಿದೆ.

      ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಭಟ್ಕಳ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ 78/2025ರಡಿ ಕಲಂ 87 (ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಕಾಯಿದೆ) ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಂ 112 (ಬಿ.ಎನ್.ಎಸ್ ಕಾಯಿದೆ) ಎಂಬ ಧಾರೆಗಳಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸದರಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

      ಕೋಟ: ದಿನಾಂಕ 01/06/2025ರಂದು ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯ ಉಪನಿರೀಕ್ಷಕರು (ತನಿಖೆ) ಸುಧಾಪ್ರಭು ಅವರು ರೌಂಡ್ಸ್ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ, ಚಿತ್ರಪಾಡಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಸಾಲಿಗ್ರಾಮ ಜಂಕ್ಷನ್ ಬಳಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಟ್ಕಾ ಜುಗಾರಿ ಆಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಬಂದಿತು. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿದ ಪೊಲೀಸರು, ಆರೋಪಿತ ವಿಜಯನನ್ನು ಕೃತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

      ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಆರೋಪಿತನಿಂದ ರೂ. 1,400 ನಗದು, ಮಟ್ಕಾ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಬರೆದ ಚೀಟಿ, ಜುಗಾರಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿದ ಬಾಲ್‌ಪೆನ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್‌ನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಕೋಟ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧ ಕ್ರಮಾಂಕ 109/2025, ಕಲಂ 78 KP ಆಕ್ಟ್ ಮತ್ತು 112 BNS ರಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದೆ. ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ.

    2. ಅಂದರ್ ಬಾಹರ್: ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ದಾಳಿ; ಮೂವರು ಅಂದರ್ 6 ಜನ ಪರಾರಿ

      ಭಟ್ಕಳ 31 ಮೇ 2025: ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ಪೀಟ್ ಜುಗಾರಾಟ ಅಂದರ್-ಬಾಹರ್ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ವೇಳೆ ಭಟ್ಕಳ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಠಾಣೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಸಿ 9 ಮಂದಿಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದಾಳಿ ವೇಳೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಮೂವರನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

      ಬೈಂದೂರು ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಉಪ್ಪುಂದ ನಿವಾಸಿ ಗೋಪಾಲ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ಖಾರ್ವಿ (೪೨), ಭಟ್ಕಳ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಪ್ಪದ ನಾಗರಾಜ ನಾರಾಯಣ ನಾಯ್ಕ (೩೪), ಸಿದ್ದಾಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಜಬ್ದಾರ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ ಸಾಬ್ (೩೩) ಬಂಧಿತರು. ಇನ್ನುಳಿದ ಆರೋಪಿಗಳಾದ ಮುರುಡೇಶ್ವರದ ಜಯಂತ ನಾರಾಯಣ ನಾಯ್ಕ, ಇರ್ಫಾನ್, ಶಿರಾಲಿ ಕೋಟೆಬಾಗಿಲು ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ಬಾಬು ಅಣ್ಣಪ್ಪ ನಾಯ್ಕ, ದತ್ತಾ ಮಾದೇವ ನಾಯ್ಕ, ಉತ್ತರಕೊಪ್ಪದ ಕುಮಾರ ಗೌಡ, ಬೈಂದೂರಿನ ರಾಜೇಶ ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ನಾಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

      ಭಟ್ಕಳ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ನೂಜ್ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಬಳಿ ಮೇ ೩೧ರಂದು ಅಂದರ್-ಬಾಹರ್ ಜೂಗಾರಾಟ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆದಿತ್ತು. ದಾಳಿ ವೇಳೆ ೯೭೦೦ ರೂ. ನಗದು, ೪ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಉಳಿದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್.ಐ. ಭರಮಪ್ಪ ಬೆಳಗಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
