  • Vaishali Rameshbabu Makes Chess History: Back-to-Back Champion at FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss 2025

    Samarkand, Uzbekistan, September 16, 2025 – Indian Grandmaster R. Vaishali Rameshbabu has cemented her legacy by winning the FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss 2025, becoming the first player—male or female—to claim the prestigious title consecutively. Securing 8 out of 11 points, Vaishali clinched victory with a hard-fought draw against former Women’s World Champion GM Tan Zhongyi of China in the final round, edging out Russia’s GM Kateryna Lagno on tiebreaks. The triumph earns her a spot in the 2026 FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament, positioning her as a frontrunner to challenge for the world title.

  • Rahul Gandhi exposed widespread vote theft in LS polls with evidence: Siddaramaiah

    Bengaluru, August 8, 2025: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has backed Congress Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in alleging widespread electoral fraud in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Siddaramaiah claimed that Gandhi presented “hard evidence” on Thursday, revealing systematic vote theft across India, enabling Prime Minister Narendra Modi to retain power.

    In a media statement, Siddaramaiah asserted, “Despite massive public discontent, Narendra Modi secured power through electoral fraud. The documents released by Rahul Gandhi provide undeniable proof.” He further demanded Modi’s resignation, stating, “Modi has no moral right to remain in office. He must resign and dissolve the government immediately.”

    The Congress Party, under Gandhi’s leadership, conducted a six-month investigation into voter records in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment of Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency. The probe allegedly uncovered evidence of systematic vote theft, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused of illegally securing 1,00,250 votes in a constituency of approximately 3.25 lakh voters.

    Siddaramaiah highlighted five methods of alleged electoral malpractice in Mahadevapura:

    1. Fake Voters: Approximately 11,965 fake voters reportedly cast votes, with some individuals voting in multiple polling booths and even outside Karnataka, indicating deliberate misuse of the electoral process.
    2. Voters with Fake Addresses: Around 40,009 voters were registered with non-existent addresses, including “House Number 0” or random, invalid entries for names and addresses.
    3. Multiple Voters at Single Addresses: A total of 10,452 voters were registered under a few addresses, including 80 voter IDs linked to a single-bedroom house and 68 to a private club, with none of the listed voters residing at these locations.
    4. Unidentifiable Voter Photographs: About 4,132 voter ID cards had missing or unclear photos, yet these voters were allowed to cast ballots, breaching electoral protocols.
    5. Elderly “First-Time Voters”: An astonishing 33,692 voters aged 60 to 90 were registered as first-time voters via Form 6, including individuals as old as 89 and 98, raising suspicions of fraudulent registrations.

    Siddaramaiah accused the Election Commission of complicity, alleging it altered rules to suppress information and withhold electronic data and CCTV footage requested by Gandhi. “Had the Election Commission acted impartially, this scam could have been exposed within days,” he said, adding that similar tactics were likely employed nationwide by the BJP to retain power.

    The Congress Party vowed to escalate its campaign, promising to raise awareness of the alleged fraud across the country.

  • Udupi records highest rainfall in India for June, surpasses Cherrapunji, Agumbe

    Udupi, July 6, 2025: Udupi district has surpassed Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji and Karnataka’s Agumbe — both known for their heavy rainfall — by recording the highest rainfall in the country during June. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this marks an all-time record for the district.

    As per rainfall statistics for June, Udupi district topped the country with 1,140 mm of rain in just one month. With an annual average rainfall of 4,300 mm, this year is likely to set a new record for Udupi if the trend continues.

    The coastal district has been witnessing intense and consistent rainfall for over a month and a half. IMD data confirms that this year has seen the highest rainfall in the district over the past two decades. As of June 27, Udupi emerged as the wettest district in the country.

    Cherrapunji, long recognised as the wettest place in India, and Agumbe, often called the ‘Cherrapunji of the South’, were both outpaced by Udupi this year. For three consecutive days in June, Udupi recorded over 150 mm of rainfall daily — a rare and significant occurrence.

    Udupi district consists of three taluks bordering the Western Ghats and five taluks along the coast, creating ideal conditions for heavy monsoon rains. Since May 15, pre-monsoon showers followed by cyclonic activity led to severe rainfall, which seamlessly transitioned into the full monsoon spell.

    The exceptional rainfall in Udupi has set a new benchmark in the country’s monsoon history and has drawn attention to the district’s changing weather patterns and the need for heightened preparedness.

    ಜ್ಯೋತಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಪಂಜಾಬ್‌ನ ಮಲೇರ್‌ಕೋಟ್ಲಾದ 32 ವರ್ಷದ ವಿಧವೆ ಗುಜಾಲಾ ಕೂಡ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆರೋಪಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 27, 2025ರಂದು ಗುಜಾಲಾ ದೆಹಲಿಯ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ಹೈಕಮಿಷನ್‌ಗೆ ವೀಸಾಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾಗ ಡ್ಯಾನಿಶ್‌ನನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾದಳು. ಡ್ಯಾನಿಶ್ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ವಾಟ್ಸಾಪ್‌ನಿಂದ ಟೆಲಿಗ್ರಾಮ್‌ಗೆ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿ, ಮದುವೆಯ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿ ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದ. ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 7ರಂದು ಫೋನ್‌ಪೇ ಮೂಲಕ 10,000 ರೂ. ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 23ರಂದು ಗೂಗಲ್ ಪೇ ಮೂಲಕ 20,000 ರೂ. ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನಂತರ ಗುಜಾಲಾಳಿಗೆ 10,000 ರೂ.ವನ್ನು 1,800, 899, 699, ಮತ್ತು 3,000 ರೂ. ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸಲು ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

    ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 23 ರಂದು ಗುಜಾಲಾ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತೆ ಬಾನು ನಸ್ರೀನಾ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ದೆಹಲಿಯ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ಹೈಕಮಿಷನ್‌ಗೆ ಮರಳಿದ್ದಳು. ಬಾನು ಕೂಡ ಮಲೇರ್‌ಕೋಟ್ಲಾದ ವಿಧವೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ಡ್ಯಾನಿಶ್ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವೀಸಾ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಮರುದಿನವೇ ವೀಸಾ ಜಾರಿಯಾಯಿತು.

    ನವದೆಹಲಿ, ಮೇ 17, 2025: ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಸಂಸದ ಶಶಿ ತರೂರ್ ಅವರು ಭಾರತದ ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದನೆಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಶೂನ್ಯ-ಸಹಿಷ್ಣುತೆಯ ನಿಲುವನ್ನು ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸಾರಲು ಸರ್ವಪಕ್ಷಗಳ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟದ ತಂಡವನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ತಂಡವು ಒಟ್ಟು ಏಳು ಸಂಸದರನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ಆಪರೇಷನ್ ಸಿಂದೂರ್‌ನ ನಂತರದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.

    ಸಂಸದೀಯ ವ್ಯವಹಾರಗಳ ಸಚಿವ ಕಿರೆನ್ ರಿಜಿಜು ಅವರು ಎಕ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿ, “ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಏಳು ಸರ್ವಪಕ್ಷ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟದ ತಂಡಗಳು ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲೇ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾಲುದಾರ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಲಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. “ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಭಿನ್ನಾಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ರಿಜಿಜು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

  • Karnataka Sangha Qatar’s “Silver Jubilee – Vasanthothsava” brings the festive fervor

    Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ),  an associate organization of Indian Cultural Center (ICC) under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha, Qatar as part of its Silver Jubilee Year celebrations, hosted the grand carnival “Belli Habba–Vasanthothsava”, themed ‘Idu Namma Karunada Jathre’. The celebration brought together thousands of Kannadigas across Qatar, who joined with family and friends to experience the spirit of Karnataka through culture, heritage, performances, and cuisine.

    The venue, New Ideal Indian School ground, was designed to mirror the festive spirit of a traditional village fair, with the Silver Jubilee theme prominently reflected. The majestic entrance arch, named Salumarada Thimmakka Mahadhwara, symbolized the theme and set the tone for the event. Visitors were welcomed into an atmosphere that included food stalls, game booths, garments & fancy stores, a beautifully crafted stage, and culturally significant elements such as Tamate, Yakshagana headgear, a village home (Halliya Sogadu Anandada Beedu), a traditional shop, and buntings made of silver foil merged with Karnataka flags, and decorative lights —creating an immersive Karunada Jathre experience.

    The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. KSQ Vice President Mr. Ramesh KS outlined the safety guidelines and introduced the Guest Emcee, Ms. Prathibha Gowda. KSQ President Mr. Ravi Shetty in his welcome address wished Vasanthothsava bring more enthusiasm and confidence to the members. Chief Guest Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, and Guest of Honour Mr. A.P. Manikantan were felicitated, and they lauded the efforts of Karnataka Sangha Qatar.

    ICC Advisory Chairman Mr. Baburajan was honored for his continuous support. Former MC members—Mrs. Della Rego, Mrs. Nirmala Raghuraman, Mr. Guruprasad, and Mr. Ismail were also felicitated as they were not available during the Rajata Sambhrama. The CEO of Media Pen, Mr. Binu Kumar, artist Mr. Ajay, and the members, Mr. Prabhurajan, Mrs. Megha Karthik, and the ATS team, received tokens of appreciation for their support in organizing the event. Cultural troupes from Bunts Qatar and Billawas Qatar contributed dance performances choreographed by Shafeeq and Raj & Swetha, respectively. Additional dance performances came from Team 974 of Incas Qatar, Spotlight Stars Dance Studio, and Emote Edition Dance Studio.

    A highlight of the evening was our neighboring country, Bahrain Kannada Sangha’s Yakshagana performance “Shoorpanaki Manabhanga”, directed by renowned artist Mr. Deepak Rao Pejawara. Despite the late hour, the performance was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

    An online competition for the best singer of Rajata Geethe was held among members. Navaneeth Shridhar was declared the winner.

    The dedication and hard work of KSQ Management committee members, performers, and volunteers over several days made the event a grand success and a memorable celebration of the Silver Jubilee year.
