  • Byndoor: Udupi Police Launch Ambitious Drishti Scheme to Enhance Safety

    Byndoor, August 13, 2025: The Udupi District Police, in collaboration with Byndoor Police Station, inaugurated the ambitious Drishti scheme at Byndoor Rotary Bhavan on Tuesday, aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing crime across the district. The initiative, launched under the directives of the State Home Department, seeks to ensure safety reaches every household.

    District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, who inaugurated the event, outlined the scheme’s objectives. “Under the Drishti scheme, each guard will be responsible for overseeing 50 to 150 households, providing critical information to police teams. Trained and skilled personnel will be appointed to reduce criminal activities,” he said. Additionally, he announced the Garuda scheme, under which 600 CCTV cameras will be installed across 110 locations, with a pilot implementation at 20 sites.

    K. Babu Shetty, president of the Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple Management Committee, emphasized the importance of people-friendly initiatives. “Such programs strengthen police-public collaboration, helping reduce crime rates and prevent incidents like theft,” he said.

The initiative aims to curb fraudulent activities such as digital arrests, fake share market apps, online job scams, fraudulent customer care numbers, loan app frauds, gift and lottery scams, and APK file-based frauds.

    Common Cybercrime Tactics

    1. Digital Arrests: Scammers impersonate officials from agencies like CBI, Customs, or police, contacting victims via phone or video calls. They intimidate victims by claiming illegal items like drugs or fake passports were found in a courier under their name, demanding money to resolve the issue. Police clarify that legitimate authorities do not conduct investigations via such calls.
    2. Fake Share Market and Trading Apps: Fraudsters lure victims into investing through unregistered apps not recognized by RBI or SEBI. Using WhatsApp or Telegram groups, they trick users into downloading fake apps and transferring money to multiple bank accounts.
    3. Online Job Scams: Scammers offer small payments for minor tasks to build trust, then pressure victims to invest larger sums, leading to financial losses.
    4. Fake Customer Care Numbers: Fraudulent customer care numbers found on Google for apps like Google Pay or PhonePe trick users into sharing UPI pins or clicking malicious links, resulting in theft. Genuine customer care services do not request such information.
    5. Fake Loan Apps: Scammers promise low-interest loans but demand advance payments. If refused, they threaten to misuse victims’ photos on social media. These institutes lack government authorization.
    6. OLX Fraud: Scammers pose as Indian Army personnel, offering vehicles at low prices on platforms like OLX or Quikr. They demand advance payments and claim vehicles are at undisclosed locations, only to disappear after receiving funds.
    7. Gift and Lottery Scams: Fraudsters entice victims with fake gift or lottery winnings, demanding advance payments to claim prizes.
    8. APK File Fraud: Scammers send malicious APK files via WhatsApp, disguised as legitimate apps like PM Kisan, Arogya Bhagya, or banking services, to steal personal information.
    9. Fake Online Gaming Apps: Promoted through celebrity ads or platforms like YouTube and TikTok, these apps promise quick earnings but lead to financial losses and frozen bank accounts.

    Other Methods Used by Cybercriminals

    • Suspicious Links: Clicking unknown links can lead to data theft and financial fraud.
    • Fake Advertisements: Social media ads with enticing offers are used to steal money.
    • Courier/Lottery Scams: Fraudsters claim victims have won cash or gifts via courier, demanding advance payments.
    • Fake Helplines: Scammers exploit Google-listed helpline numbers or emails to steal information.
    • Device Misuse: Sharing phones or laptops with strangers or charging at public stations risks data leaks.
    • KYC Update Scams: Fake calls or messages requesting ATM or credit card details for KYC updates lead to theft.
    • Electricity Bill Fraud: Fake apps for bill payments steal banking details.
    • Attractive Messages: Tempting messages from unknown sources lead to financial losses.
    • Social Media Friendship Scams: Fraudsters build relationships on platforms like Facebook or Instagram to steal data.
    • ATM/Credit Card Fraud: Scammers posing as bank officials request card details for supposed renewals or activations.

    ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಜುಲೈ 21, 2025: ವಾಹನ ಸವಾರರ ಅನುಕೂಲ ಮತ್ತು ಶಬ್ದ ಮಾಲಿನ್ಯ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಲು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ಮುಂದೆ ವಿಐಪಿ ಸಂಚಾರದ ವೇಳೆ ಸೈರನ್ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಷೇಧಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಡಿ.ಜಿ.-ಐ.ಜಿ.ಪಿ. ಡಾ. ಎಂ.ಎ. ಸಲೀಂ ಅವರು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಆದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶಬ್ದ ಮಾಲಿನ್ಯ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ, ವಿಐಪಿ ಸಂಚಾರ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೈರನ್ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುವಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಘಟಕಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಗಣ್ಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ ಸಂಚಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಗತ್ಯ ಸೈರನ್ ಬಳಕೆಯಿಂದ ಅವರ ರಸ್ತೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಅನಧಿಕೃತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅಪಾಯ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಇದು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಯನ್ನೂ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.

    ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳ/ಶಿರಸಿ: ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪನಿರೀಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿ (ಪಿಎಸ್‌ಐ) ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕೀರಪ್ಪ ಘಟಕಾಂಬ್ಳೆ ಅವರು ತಾವು ತಂಗಿದ್ದ ವಸತಿಗೃಹದ ಕೊಠಡಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ನೇಣು ಬಿಗಿದು ಆತ್ಮಹ*ತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಆಘಾತಕಾರಿ ಘಟನೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಅವರ ಈ ದಿಢೀರ್ ನಿರ್ಧಾರಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಖರ ಕಾರಣ ಇನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ.

    ಮೂಲತಃ ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಹಳಿಯಾಳದವರಾದ 45 ವರ್ಷದ ಕೀರಪ್ಪ ಘಟಕಾಂಬ್ಳೆ ಅವರು ದಕ್ಷ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಅನುಭವ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮುಂಡಗೋಡ, ಶಿರಸಿ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿರಸಿ ಮಾರ್ಕೆಟ್ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಉಪನಿರೀಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿ (ಎಎಸ್‌ಐ) ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

    ಕಳೆದ ಎಂಟು ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದಷ್ಟೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪಿಎಸ್‌ಐ ಆಗಿ ಪದೋನ್ನತಿ ದೊರೆತಿತ್ತು. ಪದೋನ್ನತಿಗೊಂಡ ನಂತರ ಅವರು ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಗೆ ವರ್ಗಾವಣೆಗೊಂಡು ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಶಿರಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಘಟಕಾಂಬ್ಳೆ ಅವರು ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

    ಅವರ ಆತ್ಮಹ*ತ್ಯೆಯ ಸುದ್ದಿ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರು, ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹಳಿಯಾಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿರಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಆಘಾತ ಮತ್ತು ಶೋಕ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಪತ್ನಿ, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಪಾರ ಬಂಧು-ಮಿತ್ರರನ್ನು ಅಗಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಮಂಗಳೂರು, ಜುಲೈ 16, 2025: ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರ ಪ್ರಕರಣವೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಕಂಕನಾಡಿ ನಗರ ಠಾಣೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಕಾವೂರು ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯ ಕಾನ್ ಸ್ಟೇಬಲ್ ಚಂದ್ರ ನಾಯಕ್ ಬಂಧಿತ ಆರೋಪಿ. ಈತನಿಗೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ ಆರೋಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಪತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿದೆ.

    ಈ ವಿನೂತನ ಯೋಜನೆಯಡಿ, ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ದೂರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಲು ಮನೆ ಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ತೆರಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಮತ್ತು ಸೆಷನ್ಸ್ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯದ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧೀಶ ಕಿರಣ್ ಎಸ್. ಗಂಗಣ್ಣನವರ್ ಹಸಿರು ನಿಶಾನೆ ತೋರಿಸಿ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, “ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಸೇವೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೂ ತಲುಪಬೇಕು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಲಿ,” ಎಂದು ಶುಭ ಕೋರಿದರು.

    ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ವರಿಷ್ಠಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಹರಿರಾಮ್ ಶಂಕರ್, ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ವರಿಷ್ಠಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ಸುಧಾಕರ್ ಎಸ್. ನಾಯ್ಕ, ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ ಹೆಗಡೆ, ಡಿವೈಎಸ್‌ಪಿ ಪ್ರಭು ಡಿ. ಟಿ., ಪಿಎಸ್ಐಗಳಾದ ಭರತೇಶ್, ನಾರಾಯಣ, ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಸಾಲಿಯಾನ್, ಹುಸೇನ್ ಸಾಬ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಉಡುಪಿ ನಗರ, ಮಣಿಪಾಲ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಟ ಠಾಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ‘ಮನೆಮನೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್’ ಅಭಿಯಾನ ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತಂದಿದೆ.

    ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಗ್ರಾಮಾಂತರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌ ಠಾಣಾ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಿಗೆ “ಮನೆಮನೆಗೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌” ಅಭಿಯಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಸೈಬರ್‌ ಅಪರಾಧ ‌,112, ಪೋಕ್ಸೋ ಕಾಯ್ದೆ, ಮನೆ ಕಳ್ಳತನ, ಸರ ಕಳ್ಳತನ, ರಸ್ತೆ ಸಂಚಾರ ನಿಯಮ ಮುಂತಾದ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
    ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣಾ ಸರಹದಿನ ಕಾರ್ವಿ ಕೇರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾಕಾಳಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಬಳಿ “ಮನೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ” 2025 ಕಾಯ೯ಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಸಂದಭ೯ದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಉಪಾಧಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಉಪ ವಿಭಾಗ, ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಉಪ ನೀರಿಕ್ಷಕರು (ಕಾ &ಸು ),
    ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಉಪ ನೀರಿಕ್ಷಕರು (ತನಿಖೆ ) ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣಾ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಠಾಣಾ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು

    ಈ ಅಭಿಯಾನದಡಿ ಸೈಬರ್ ಅಪರಾಧ, ಮಾದಕ ವಸ್ತು, ಬಾಲಾಪರಾಧ, POCSO ಕಾಯ್ದೆ, ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಕಳ್ಳತನ, ಸರ ಕಳ್ಳತನ, ರಸ್ತೆ ಸಂಚಾರ ನಿಯಮಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರ ಹೆಸರು, ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ದೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಕೋರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಉಡುಪಿ ನಗರ ಠಾಣೆಯ 28, ಮಣಿಪಾಲ ಠಾಣೆಯ 45, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ ಠಾಣೆಯ 30 ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಟ ಠಾಣೆಯ 25 ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

    ಅಮಾಸೆಬೈಲು ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌ ಠಾಣಾ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ “ಮನೆಮನೆಗೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌” ಅಭಿಯಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಸೈಬರ್‌ ಅಪರಾಧ ‌,112, ಪೋಕ್ಸೋ ಕಾಯ್ದೆ, ಮನೆ ಕಳ್ಳತನ, ಸರ ಕಳ್ಳತನ, ರಸ್ತೆ ಸಂಚಾರ ನಿಯಮ ಮುಂತಾದ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮನೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

    ಈ ಅರಿವು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಠಾಣೆಯಿಂದ ರಚಿಸಲಾದ ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಐ/ಪಿಎಸ್ಐ, ಎಎಸ್ಐ, ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮತ್ತು ಪುರುಷ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
