  • Karnataka Revises SSLC and II PU Exam Rules for 2025–26 Academic Year

    Bengaluru, July 25, 2025: The Karnataka government has unveiled draft rules proposing a revised evaluation pattern for SSLC and II PU examinations, effective from the 2025–26 academic year. Announced on Thursday, the changes lower the pass mark and integrate internal assessments into the final scores, aligning with national board practices.

    For SSLC exams, the pass mark is reduced to 33% of the total marks, down from 35%. Students can achieve this by combining internal assessment and external examination scores, requiring a minimum of 206 out of 625 marks, with at least 30% in each subject. The total marks include 125 for the first language and 100 for other subjects, a structure unchanged from previous norms. Previously, the pass criterion was 35% with no combined average or specific total mark requirement, focusing only on 30% per subject.

    For II PU, the pass threshold is also lowered to 33% of aggregate marks across all subjects, down from 35%, with a mandatory 30% in each subject, now including written exams, internal assessments, or practicals. In subjects without practicals, students need at least 24 out of 80 marks in the written exam, while those with practical components must score at least 21 out of 70 in theory. The practical exam format shifts from 30 to 20 marks, with an additional 10 marks awarded for meeting criteria such as 75% attendance, completed practicals, a certified record book, and exam appearance.

    These amendments, part of the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board First Regulations (Amendment) 2025, aim to address historically low pass percentages—62% for SSLC (5.28 lakh passed out of 8.68 lakh) and 69.16% for II PUC-1 (out of 6.37 lakh)—partly due to the absence of internal marks and a higher threshold. Objections or suggestions can be submitted to the Chairman, Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, 3rd floor, 6th cross, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru-560003, within 15 days from July 24, 2025.

    ಗಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿ : ಈ ಬಾರಿಯ ಎಸ್ಸೆಸ್ಸೆಲ್ಸಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ೨ನೇ ರ್‍ಯಾಂಕ್ ಪಡೆಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸುಶ್ಮಿತಾ ಗಾಣಿಗ ತಾಲೂಕಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವಳ ಈ ಸಾಧನೆ ಪ್ರಶಂಸನೀಯ ಎಂದು ಕುಂದಾಪುರ ವಲಯದ ಪ್ರಭಾರ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

  • Karnataka offers 2 extra chances for SSLC failures to pass; announces dates for exam 2, 3

    Bengaluru, May 3: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa has assured SSLC students who failed or scored low marks in the 2025 exams that they will have two more chances to improve their scores.

    Speaking at a press conference on Friday, May 2, following the declaration of the SSLC 2025 results, the minister stated that students who have not passed will be given another opportunity to clear their exams through SSLC Exam 2 and SSLC Exam 3.

    “The students who have not passed do not need to worry about losing a year. They will get two additional chances to appear for the exams. Until students complete all three exams, or pass, their digital marks card will carry the remark ‘in progress’ instead of ‘fail’,” Madhu Bangarappa explained.

    This year, the SSLC exams were held with strict procedures, and a significant number of students did not pass. Out of 8.96 lakh students, 66.14% were successful. However, for those who failed, the Minister assured that there would be two more attempts available to ensure that no student loses an entire academic year.

    Dates for SSLC Exam 2 & 3:

    • SSLC Exam 2: May 26 to June 2
    • SSLC Exam 3: June 23 to June 30

    The minister also stated that 79,000 students have already registered for the re-examinations and will be given another chance to clear the subjects they failed in.

    This system of three attempts was introduced to support students and allow them to improve their performance. The minister reiterated that the two additional chances would help the students catch up and secure their education without facing the threat of dropping out.

    The announcement has brought relief to the students who didn’t pass and are now looking forward to the upcoming exams.

    ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಹಾಜರಾದ 38 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಪೈಕಿ 34 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತೇರ್ಗಡೆಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, 7 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಠ ದರ್ಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, 18 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಥಮ ಶ್ರೇಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು 9 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತೃತೀಯ ಶ್ರೇಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತೀರ್ಣರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
